Hello everyone!
JALTAK takes this opportunity to announce the call for JLPT 2023 applications. The test will be held on Sunday, 3rd December at the Kenya Utalii College.
In case you wish to apply, make sure you READ THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES carefully to ensure a successful application.
1. Those who learn Japanese through teachers (JALTAK members) can get application forms from their respective teachers.
2. Those who do self-study can get application forms from the Japan Information and Culture Centre, Embassy of Japan. Before you go to the Embassy, ensure the following:
3. Those who are very far from Nairobi and cannot get the forms through teachers have the option of applying through Google Forms. If you wish to apply through Google Forms, ensure the following:

4. Persons with disabilities (PWDs) who would like to apply should notify JALTAK of their condition at the time of application, which should be before August 28th, to allow JALTAK to further arrange for the relevant considerations that apply to PWDs.
5. The Test Fees are as follows:
N1, N2, N3: Ksh. 2,000
N4, N5: Ksh 1,500.
6. The application DEADLINE is 9th September 2023.

1. Those who learn Japanese through teachers (JALTAK members) can get application forms from their respective teachers.
- Please get in touch with your teacher to get the application form, and if you are not familiar with how to fill in the form, your teacher will help you.
- Pay the applicable test fees to your teacher.
2. Those who do self-study can get application forms from the Japan Information and Culture Centre, Embassy of Japan. Before you go to the Embassy, ensure the following:
- That you first pay your applicable test fees via MPESA to 0769386188 AT LEAST ONE DAY BEFORE you go to the Embassy. Payments can be made on any day of the week.
- Send a text message to 0769386188 starting with the words “EMBASSY APPLICATION”, and then indicate your full name, your Test Level, and MPESA confirmation Code.
- JALTAK will then send your details to the Embassy and request the Embassy to issue you with an application form.
- When you go to the Embassy, carry 2 PASSPORT SIZED PHOTOGRAPHS that have been taken within the past 6 months. Without the photographs, your application cannot be completed.
- The Embassy will only issue you with an application form after receiving the request from JALTAK. Therefore, ensure that you have sent the payment early enough (more than 24 hours before you go to the Embassy), so that JALTAK can process the request.
- The Embassy will accept applications on weekdays. Please note that 12:30pm-1:30pm is lunch break at the Embassy.
3. Those who are very far from Nairobi and cannot get the forms through teachers have the option of applying through Google Forms. If you wish to apply through Google Forms, ensure the following:
- Please note that those who apply through Google Forms will pay an extra convenience fee of Ksh. 200, in addition to the test fees applicable to their level.
- Read the contents of the Google Forms first to ensure you have the requirements. Prepare a recent digital photo (taken within the past 6 months) that will be uploaded to the Google forms.
- Pay the applicable test fees + Ksh 200 convenience fee. The amount will total to either Ksh.1700 or Ksh. 2200 depending on your test level.
- Send a text message to 0769386188 starting with the words “GOOGLE FORMS APPLICATION”, and then indicate your full name, your Test Level, and MPESA confirmation Code.
- Fill in the Google Forms, and at the end, remember to click “submit”. If you do not click “submit”, your response will not be received.
- Application can be done on any day of the week.
