Ambassador’s Message
Welcome to the website of the Embassy of Japan to the State of Eritrea.
I would like to take this opportunity to convey my warm greetings to the government and friendly people of Eritrea.
It is an especially great honour for me to represent Japan to Eritrea. Since Eritrea’s independence, Japan and Eritrea have enjoyed amicable relations. In recent years, the two countries have enjoyed exchange of official visits. In September 2014, Hon. Minoru Kiuchi, the Sate Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, visited Eritrea. Dr. Giorgis Teklemilael, Minister of National Development, came to Japan to attend the Fifth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD V) in May 2013.
Japan has been working with Eritrea in the areas of health, water supply, food security and human capacity development, in order to enrich the people’s livelihood in Eritrea. Human capacity development is an area where the Japanese Government always puts emphasis on its Official Development Assistance. In Eritrea, there are many professionals in various areas such as health who were trained in Japan and came back to play active roles in society. I believe that Eritrea has a strong potential for further development.
I am determined to carry out my duties as Ambassador to Eritrea and further promote our bilateral relations. I hope this website guides you to information on Japan’s growing relationship with Eritrea.
