The Aikido Demonstration and Workshop was officially opened by H.E. Mr. Tatsushi Terada, Ambassador of Japan to Kenya. In his opening remarks, he talked about the cooperation in sports between Kenya and Japan. In order to support sports activities toward the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, Japan initiated a program called ‘Sports for Tomorrow’ which has been providing its support to various sports activities all over the world. The Aikido demonstration and workshop is a part of Sports for Tomorrow program.

Some members of the audience who had gone through the workshop also joined the experts on the Tatami mat so that they could get a feel of practicing Aikido.
