The Japanese Cultural Festival (UNDOKAI) in Nyandarua County

The Japanese Cultural Festival is an annual event that is organized by the Japan Information & Culture Centre (JICC), the cultural and public affairs section of the Embassy of Japan in Kenya. During the Cultural Festival, the members of the audience are exposed to diverse aspects of Japan and the Japanese Culture. The year 2014 saw the start of Japanese Cultural Festivals being held outside Nairobi County. This year, for the first time, the Japanese Cultural Festival was held in Nyandarua County. The main event of the Japanese Cultural Festival was ‘UNDOKAI’, that is, the Japanese style of sports day.
The Japanese Cultural Festival ‘UNDOKAI’in Nyandarua County was held at Nyonjoro Primary School on Saturday, October 15, 2016. UNDOKAI was attended by 700 people. Hon. Peter Mwangi Gathimba, County Executive Committee Member, Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Sports of Nyandarua County was the chief guest of the Japanese Cultural Festival ‘UNDOKAI’.
