The 10th Japanese Language Speech Contest

The 10th Japanese Language Speech Contest was held at the Embassy of Japan on Saturday, 11th March 2017. The speech contest attracted about 190 participants among them 15 Japanese language speech contestants.
 
The contest was organized by the Japan Information and Culture Centre (JICC), the Japan Foundation (JF) and the Japanese Language Teachers Association of Kenya (JALTAK).
 
Sponsors of the contest included Mitsui and Co. Ltd (general trading company), Marubeni Corporation (general trading company), Rohto Mentholatum [Kenya] Ltd (healthcare),  H.I.S Kenya Ltd. (travel agency), Nippon Express Co. Ltd (Courier Service),  Panafricamed Ltd (Valdivia Bio-Enegized Water),and Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (Japanese private university)

The Japanese Language Speech Contest was officially opened by the Japanese Ambassador to Kenya, Mr. Toshitsugu Uesawa. Mr. Douglas Wakiihuri, Olympic medalist, also graced the occasion.

After the contest, Kenya Utalii College students presented a Japanese Poem titled “Gagigugego no Uta”.
