Reception for the 85th Birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan

On the 5th of December, prior to His Majesty the Emperor of Japan’s 85th birthday on December 23rd, a reception in honor of his birthday was held by H. E. Ambassador Toshitsugu Uesawa at his residence.
The guest of honour during the reception was Hon. Ababu Namwamba, Chief Administrative Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kenya.
Following singing of the national anthems of Japan and Kenya by the Japanese choir Malaika, Ambassador Uesawa delivered a welcome speech in which he explained the recent bilateral relations between Japan and Kenya which had been significantly enhanced through the experience of TICAD VI in Nairobi, the first-ever TICAD summit meeting in Africa.
After receiving congratulatory message by the Hon. Namwamba, all the guests were welcomed to enjoy a variety of Japanese cuisine including sake, Japanese rice wine.
