One Year to Go to the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020!

Wednesday, July 24, 2019 marked the one year countdown to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. In celebration of this landmark occasion, the Embassy of Japan in Kenya held a One Year to go to the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 event.
During this event, members of the audience got an opportunity to experience five of the Olympic and Paralympic Sports. These were: Rugby, Judo, Handball, Table Tennis and Athletics. In order to make the sports experience more authentic, officials and members from the Kenya Rugby Union, Kenya Judo Association, Kenya Handball Federation and Kenya Table Tennis Association trained the audience on the different sports they specialize it.
Also in attendance was Mr. Shadrack Maluki, Vice President of the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK). The first male and female Kenyan Olympic medalists Mr. Wilson Kiprugut Chumo and Mrs. Pauline Konga, respectively, were in attendance. Two time gold medalist at the 2004 Athens Paralympic Games Mr. Henry Wanyoike also graced the occasion.
