Second Judo Japanese Ambassadors Cup

On Saturday, 7th December, 2019, the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Kenya in collaboration with the Kenya Judo Association (KJA) held the Second Judo Japanese Ambassadors Cup at the Nairobi Japanese School. The event was attended by the Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Kenya, H. E. Mr. Ryoichi Horie, the Principal of the Nairobi Japanese School Mr. Atsushi Takikawa and officials of the Kenya Judo Association led by the president, Mr. Shadrack Maluki.
 
Also in attendance were 10 Judo clubs totaling to 141 judokas. The judokas included teams from the Kenya Defence Forces, Kenya Police, Kenya Prisons, Kenyatta University and judo clubs from areas such as Kajiado, Rongai, Malindi, Diani and Nairobi.
 
The Judo Japanese Ambassadors Cup aims to promote the Tokyo 2020 Games. In addition to this, the competition seeks to publicize the progress of Judo in Kenya and the commitment as well as the achievements realized through Japanese assistance to Kenya in sports and the progress of sports relations between Kenya and Japan.
