Send-off Ceremony for the ABE Initiative and SDGs Global leaders

On Friday, 1st September 2023, H.E. Mr. OKANIWA Ken, Ambassador of Japan attended the Send-off Ceremony for the 10th batch of the ABE Initiative and SDGs Global Leader participants at Nairobi. From Kenyan Government, Mr. David NJOROGE, Secretary, Human Resource Development, Ministry of Public Service, Gender and Affirmative Action also attended.
22 young civil servants and businesspersons from 4 countries (Kenya, Somalia, Eritrea and Seychelles) will be heading to Japan for their Master/PhD Studies fully facilitated by both ABE Initiative and SDGs program.
The objective of the ABE Initiative (African Business Education Initiative for Youth) is to support young personnel who can become the "Navigator" for contribution to the development of industry on the African Continent. SDGs program is tailored towards developing young African leaders to develop high level human resources who would contribute to appropriate policy decision and its implementation for tackling political and developmental issues in respective fields.
32 young students from 4 countries are currently studying in Japanese universities under ABE Initiative and SDGs Global leaders while 182 young leaders have returned after successfully completing their respective courses.
