JAPANESE LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY TEST (JLPT) DECEMBER 2024 GUIDELINES (KENYA)

Hello everyone!
JALTAK (Japanese Language Teacher Association of Kenya) takes this opportunity to announce the call for JLPT 2024 applications. The test will be held on Sunday, 1st December at the Kenya Utalii College.
If you wish to apply for the test, make sure you READ THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES carefully to ensure a successful application.
A. Those who learn Japanese through teachers (JALTAK members) can get application forms from their respective teachers.
• Please contact your teacher to get the application form, and if you are not familiar with how to fill in the form, your teacher will help you.
• Pay the applicable test fees through your teacher.
• You will need 2 PASSPORT SIZED PHOTOGRAPHS that have been taken within the past 6 months.
• Make sure you read Part C of the guidelines below.
B. Those who do self-study, or those who are not able to get the physical form can apply through a re-writable pdf. The pdf can be accessed via the following link, below which you will find another link to a sample application form that has been filled in, as well as further guidelines:

If you choose to apply through the pdf, go through the application guide and the sample application form before applying. In addition, note the following:
1. Submission of your application form (pdf) will be done via Google Forms. Prepare a recent digital photo (taken within the past 6 months) that will be pasted on your application form.
2. You will only need to fill in your details on Page 1 of the pdf. The information you input will be pasted on the other pages automatically. However, you will need to paste a digital image on page 4 and page 5.
3. As you will notice, the part of “Examinee Registration Number” on pages 4 and 5 will be left blank. That part should NOT be filled in by the applicant.
4. As you paste the digital image on pages 4 and 5 (upper left), make sure the image is within the box. Reduce/enlarge the photo from the corners, and not along the length or width. Those who are unable to paste their photos on the form will have the option of submitting the photo on a separate entry in the Google Form.
5. Read the contents of the Google Form (submission platform) carefully before submitting your application.
6. You will need to pay the test fees before submitting the form.
7. Payment will be made through M-PESA. Send the test fee applicable to your test level to 0716260092
8. Send a text message to 0716260092 starting with the words “PDF APPLICATION”, and then indicate your full name, your Test Level, and M-PESA confirmation Code.
9. Please note that those who apply through this method will pay an extra convenience fee of Ksh. 250, in addition to the test fees applicable to their level. The amount will total to either Ksh.1750 or Ksh. 2250 depending on the test level.
10. After you have completed filling in the Google Form, remember to click “submit”. If you do not click “submit”, your application will not be received. After a successful submission you will get a confirmation email with a copy of your response.
11. Application can be done on any day of the week.

C) GUIDELINES FOR ALL APPLICANTS
1. On the top right of the application form (both pdf and hard copy forms), there is a part written “Request Special Testing Accommodations”. The box should only be checked by Persons with disabilities (PWDs). All other applicants should leave the box unchecked.
2. Persons with disabilities (PWDs) who wish to apply for the test should notify JALTAK of their condition at the time of application, which should be before August 28th, 2024, to allow JALTAK to further arrange for the relevant considerations that apply to PWDs.
3. Unlike last year, the Embassy will not be receiving JLPT applications. Please take note of the two application methods listed above.
4.. The Test Fees are as follows:
N1, N2, N3: Ksh. 2,000
N4, N5: Ksh. 1,500.
6. The application DEADLINE is 17th September 2024.
