Signing ceremony of the Japan Supplementary Budget Project through UNESCO 2024

On 10 February 2025, Ambassador MATSUURA Hiroshi signed an arrangement letter for the Japan Supplementary Budget Project through UNESCO, “Enhancing flood resilience in Kenya”, with Director and Regional Representative for East Africa, UNESCO, Ms. Louise Haxthausen. They exchanged the views on the importance of flood prevention in Kenya as well as the East African region.
 
Through this project, UNESCO aims to strengthen early warning capacity of the communities in Tana River and Garissa County. The government of Japan has funded 1 million USD to this project
