The 4th Japan Ambassador's Cup Kenya Judo Tournament

On 28 February, the 4th Japan Ambassador's Cup Kenya Judo Tournament was held at the Kassarani Sports Centre Gymnasium. This tournament, jointly organised by the Kenya Judo Federation and the Embassy of Japan, saw participation from numerous judoka nationwide, both male and female, ranging from primary school pupils to adults, who demonstrated their daily training achievements.
This tournament was attended by numerous representatives from Kenya's prominent sports federations, including Mr. Shadrack Maluki, President of the Kenya Judo Federation and Chairman of the National Olympic Committee of Kenya.
Ambassador Matsuura addressed the opening ceremony, offering words of encouragement to the athletes, coaches, and tournament officials. He observed numerous matches and presented awards to the athletes who achieved outstanding results.
Since the inception of the Japan Ambassador's Cup, the standard of judo in Kenya has improved year on year. In recent years, Kenyan athletes have achieved top placings in international tournaments involving countries across Africa. It is hoped that judo will continue to develop as a competitive sport in Kenya and contribute to the healthy development of young people through daily practice.
