Japan provides US$429,058 for the Project “Improving Quality Primary Education through Community Participation in Migwani District (Phase 3)”

Under the framework of the Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO’s Projects, the Government of Japan has provided US$429,058 to Community Action Development Organisation (CanDo).
 

The Grant Contract was signed on February 25th 2013 at the Embassy of Japan between H.E. Mr. Toshihisa TAKATA, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Kenya, and Mr. Hiromasa NAGAOKA, Chief Representative of CanDo, to implement the project for “Improving Quality Primary Education through Community Participation in Migwani District (Phase 3)”.
 

This project is the third period of total three years programme. CanDo is to use this grant to continue implementing their activities, cooperating with local residents and municipal officers, such as expansion of school facilities, AIDS education trainings, early pregnancy prevention training, basic health training, environment conservation and so on at primary schools and nursery schools in Migwani District which is located about 200km east from Nairobi.

 

<Introduction of CanDo’s activities>
CanDo is a Japanese NGO established in 1998. They have been implementing many development cooperation activities to realize people in Kenya’s lives become better by their own actions.
 

● Main features of CanDo’s activities in Kenya
(1) General development cooperation activities in fields of education, health and environment at schools and local communities in Migwani District.
(2) Health activity at Mwingi East District
(3) Supplemental study coursework for high school students in slums of Nairobi.
