A signing ceremony for the International Peace Training Centre (IPSTC) projects was held in Nairobi on 11th (FRI) April, 2014. The Government of Japan has been supporting this center of excellence in Africa since December 2008 via the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). This year, Japan decided to fund 1.19 million USD for IPSTC’s training courses and research activities on peace and security with a focus on Somalia, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Amb. Dr. Monica K. Juma, Principal Secretary for Defence, graced the signing ceremony. She expressed her appreciation towards Japan’s contribution to peace and stability in Kenya and East Africa. In addition, Brig. Robert Kabage, Director of IPSTC, ensured that his center will maintain its high performance and implement the projects in a reliable and effective manner.
