Main activity | The Grant contract for the project for the expansion of Mangoto Primary School was signed between the Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Kenya H.E. Mr. Tatsushi Terada and Mr Dickson Karaba Ngechu, Head teacher of Mangoto Primary School. The grant signing ceremony was held on 8th December, 2015 at the Embassy of Japan in Nairobi. The total amount of the grant was USD 84,745, approximately 8 Million KSH, to be used for the construction of 8 classrooms, 8 toilets and a water tank and the purchase of furniture. Mangoto Primary School is a public mixed day primary school, established in 2012, located in Murang’a County. The school is hosting 528 students in makeshift classrooms constructed by the parents. During the ceremony, the representatives of Mangoto Primary School explained the need for permanent structures at the school and expressed gratitude to the Government and people of Japan for the grant. Ambassador Terada congratulated the organization which had been selected from over 450 applicants received the previous year. This project is planned for completion by end of 2016. Representatives of the grantee organization were later invited to share lunch with Mr Yuki Yamana, head of GGP Section. The food was provided by TERIYAKI JAPAN, a company of Tori Doll Ltd. currently operating in Kenya. |
