Policy Workshop on Japan-Kenya Relations
May 2014
Embassy of Japan in Kenya
The Embassy of Japan in Kenya held a policy workshop on Japan-Kenya relations on Friday 16th May, 2014. This workshop was held in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of a Japanese embassy in Kenya on 1st June, 1964.
Mr. Douglas Wakiihuri, who was trained in Japan as a marathon runner and won the 1988 Olympic medal, opened the workshop as a guest speaker. Then panel discussions were conducted with the participation of Japanese and Kenyan experts on two themes: an overview of Japan-Kenya relations and economic cooperation.
Around 90 people, most of whom were Kenyan students, attended the workshop. Many questions were raised during the Q&A sessions, which represented Kenyan people’s strong interests towards Japan.
