The Embassy of Japan in Kenya is seeking to recruit a suitable candidate to fill in a vacant post at the visa and consular section. Interested individuals meeting the below mentioned criteria should apply according to the following guidelines.
Please note that submitted documents will not be returned.
1. Key responsibilities
Reception duties at the Consular Section of the Embassy of Japan in Kenya (visa processing, family register services, various certification services, etc.); handling consular-related inquiries by phone and email; liaison and coordination with Kenyan government agencies; conducting various investigations and preparing documents such as official correspondence, information gathering, document organization, data entry, etc.
2. Number of vacant position
1 person
3. Working Hours
Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:45 pm (※Overtime and weekend work may be required as needed) (Lunch break: 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm)
4. Salary
Determined based on the applicant's educational background, work history, years of experience, etc.
5. Application Requirements
・ Proficiency in advanced Japanese and English communication required for the above duties; Swahili communication skill is an added advantage.
・ Must possess residency status allowing employment in Kenya (e.g., permanent residency) or be a Kenyan national capable of communicating in Japanese. (Note: The Embassy does not assist with obtaining residency status.)
・ Individuals with a bachelor's degree or higher, or equivalent academic qualifications
・ Proficiency in basic computer operations (Word, Excel, etc.)
・ Even with limited experience, we welcome bright, cooperative individuals who can work flexibly
6. Required Documents
・ Resume (any format, written in Japanese, with a 3.5–4.5 cm color photo attached)
・ Copy of identification document (passport)
・ Copy of degree certificate or graduation certificate
・ Certificate of Good Conduct (only after job confirmation)
・ Personal Statement (in Japanese)
・ Copy of language proficiency certification (e.g., Japanese Language Proficiency Test, TOEIC) for languages other than your native language (if available)
7. Submission Deadline and Address
Candidates who meet the above criteria are encouraged to apply by submitting hard copies of their C.V. together with all the relevant documents listed above in person, at the main security desk within the Embassy premises or mail them to the address below to be received latest by Wednesday, October 22 2025 until 12:30 pm. Please write “CONSULAR” in red ink on the envelope containing the application documents.
