1. Water– The Project for the Construction of Ngwani Sand Dam and Footbridge
Wendo Self Help Group in Makueni County was awarded USD 92,416 to construct a sand dam and footbridge on Ngwani River. The purpose is to supply clean water throughout the year and to enable the community to cross the river during the rainy season. During the rainy season, the river overflows and makes it difficult for people who live on the other side of the river to cross the river to go to markets, schools, dispensaries and churches. In addition, during the dry season, the community members sometimes walk for more than 20km round trip to fetch water for their households. Therefore, the project will solve these water related issues.
