Signing Ceremony for the Grant Contract for GGP - Dandora Dumpsite Rehabilitation Group (DADREG)

2019/3/1
On 1st March 2019, Mr. Katayama, the Charge d’ Affaires a.i., signed the Grant Contract for the Project for the Construction of DADREG Community Training Centre with Dandora Dumpsite Rehabilitation Group (DADREG). The amount of the grant is USD94,992 to be used for the construction of a community training center and procurement of furniture.

DADREG has assisted youth, women and children living within Dandora dumpsite through providing various activities since 2012. The vocational trainings (Cookery, Hairdressing and Tailoring) have been provided since 2013. The community requires more vocational courses though DADREG. However, DADREG has not been able to accommodate them due to the low capacity of the facility.

Currently there are only 3 courses for 6 trainees each. This project will enable DADREG to provide 8 types of vocational trainings to 25 trainees each. Moreover, these trainings will assist more youth and women to obtain the vocational skills and knowledge to enrich their lives and keep them away from living within the dumpsite.
