Signing Ceremony for the Grant Contract for GGP - AIC Wango Primary School

Mr. Katayama, the Minister-Counsellor signed the Grant Contract for the Project for the Development of Educational Infrastructure at AIC Wango Primary School with AIC Wango Primary School on 5th March 2019. The amount of the grant is USD 80,825 to be used for the construction of 5 classrooms, an administration block and 9 pit-latrines, and purchase of furniture.
AIC Wango Primary School was established in 1966 in Mbeere South Sub County, Embu County and has a current enrollment of 431 pupils and 16 teachers. The school is popular in the area due to good performance in the national examination every year. However it lacks adequate educational infrastructure of both classrooms and administration block. This becomes difficult for the school to provide a conducive learning environment for pupils and teachers. The shortage of the toilets and school furniture also affects teaching and learning at the school. This project will improve the environment and create a more conducive and safe space for learning. In the future, pupils’ retention at the school will increase and the performance in examinations is expected to continue improving. The local community’s effort to improve performance at the school will be also enhanced.
