A Handing over ceremony for “Economic and Social Development Programme - Provision of Patrol Motor Boats to Maritime Police Unit” was held in Mombasa County on 2nd October 2019.
Mr. Edward Mbugua, Deputy Inspector General Kenya Police Service and other high level officials attended the ceremony.
In his remarks, H.E. Mr.Ryoichi Horie, Ambassador of Japan to Kenya maintained that Japan was pleased to handover seventeen patrol motorboats which are required as a vital component of Kenya’s plans and efforts to improve its maritime security.
He also stressed that Japan continues to contribute to the “Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP)” and the sustainable blue economy to boost Africa’s efforts in attaining peace and stability.

- 8m class FRP Boat with outboard: 5 Units
- 6m class FRP Boat with outboard: 10 Units
