The signing ceremony of the Grant Contract for the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP)

On 17th February 2020, the signing ceremony of the Grant Contract for the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) was held at the Embassy of Japan. The Grant Contracts were signed by H.E. Mr. HORIE Ryoichi, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Kenya and the representatives of Human Development International Organization, Kakapel Special School for Hearing Impairment, Ogande Special School for the Mentally Handicapped and Claude Academy.
Human Development International Organization (HDI) will receive a grant of approximately Ksh 5.4 million (USD 57,775) from the Government of Japan. It will be used for increased output and profits of smallholder farmers through value-added improved Kienyeji chicken in Kitui County.
Kakapel Special School for Hearing Impairment will receive a grant of approximately Ksh 10.6 million (USD 111,825) to be used for the construction of two dormitories. The school is located in Teso-North Sub-County, Busia County and has 131 pupils.
Ogande Special School for the Mentally Handicapped will receive a grant of approximately Ksh 10.6 million (USD 112,005) to be used for the construction of two dormitories and perimeter wall. The school is located in Homa Bay Sub-County, Homa Bay County and has 224 pupils.
Claude Academy will receive a grant of approximately Ksh 7.7 million (USD 80,189) to be used for the Construction of a Girl’s Dormitory. The school is located in East-Pokot Sub-County, Baringo County and has 249 pupils.
Upon completion of the projects, over 1,000 people will benefit either directly or indirectly through increased income for the smallholder farmers and improvement of learning environment in the schools. The Embassy hopes for successful completion of the projects.
