The signing ceremony of the Grant Contracts for the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP)

On 26th February 2021, the signing ceremony of the Grant Contracts for the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) was held at the Embassy of Japan. The Grant Contracts were signed by H.E. Mr. HORIE Ryoichi, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Kenya and the representatives of Asante Africa Foundation-Kenya, International Aid Services-Kenya, Kanacho Nomadic Educational Foundation, Ndagene Boys High School and Simotwet Secondary School.
Asante Africa Foundation-Kenya will receive a grant of approximately Ksh 7.9 million (USD 76,057.00) from the Government of Japan. It will be used for improving the educational facilities at Oloorng’anayio Primary School in Narok County by construction of 5 classrooms and 7 pit latrines as well as provision of 50 desks in classrooms.
International Aid Services-Kenya will receive a grant of approximately Ksh 9.5 million (USD 91,396.00) from the Government of Japan. It will be used for ensuring sustainable water supply in 5 schools in Tharaka Nithi County by constructing a water tank and water pan in each of the schools.
Kanacho Nomadic Educational Foundation will receive a grant of approximately Ksh 8.3 million (USD 80,226.00) from the Government of Japan. It will be used for improving the educational facilities at Qoloba Primary School in Marsabit County, by constructing 5 classrooms and a water tank as well as provision of desks in classrooms.
Ndagene Boys High School in Meru County, Imenti south sub-county will receive a grant of approximately Ksh 8.3 million (USD 79,864.00) from the Government of Japan. It will be used for improving the boarding facilities at the school by constructing a dormitory.
Simotwet Secondary School in Narok County will receive a grant of approximately Ksh 12.6 million (USD 120,903.00) from the Government of Japan. It will be used for improving the boarding and educational facilities at the school by constructing a girls’ dormitory and 9 classrooms.
Upon completion of the projects, more than 3,200 students will benefit from the facilities. The Embassy hopes for successful completion of the projects.
