The Japan-Kenya Business Forum

On 24th June 2021, the Government of Japan through Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) in collaboration with the Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest) co-hosted the virtual Japan-Kenya Business Forum. Today’s forum was organised to highlight Kenya's business and investment opportunities to Japanese companies with a view of accelerating further investment in Kenya.
 
Hon. Betty Maina, Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Industrialisation, Trade and Enterprise Development, Dr. Julius Muia, CBS, Principal Secretary of the National Treasury and Planning, Dr. Moses Ikiara, Managing Director of the KenInvest and executives from Kenyan business organisations were in attendance.
 
Mr. EJIMA Kiyoshi, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, H.E. Mr. HORIE Ryoichi, Ambassador of Japan to Kenya and approximately 700 Japanese participated from the Japanese side.
 
In his opening remark, Mr. Ejima announced that Japan will co-host “The 2nd Japan-Africa Public Private Economic Forum” with Kenya, which will be held in the end of this year. He also encouraged Japanese companies for further investment to Kenya and other African countries.
 
Dr. Ikiara appealed the existence of the "Japan-Kenya Business Dialogue" which was forward in Kenya to improve the business environment between the two countries and called upon Japanese companies to feel comfortable investing in Kenya.
 
Ambassador Horie stressed Japan’s efforts to promote business activities with Kenya and also assured continued close cooperation with Kenya for bilateral business relationship.
 
Today’s forum was held as a prelude to “The 2nd Japan-Africa Public Private Economic Forum” scheduled in the end of this year in Nairobi. The up-coming forum aims to accelerate and expand business activities with Japan from Kenya to the rest of Africa.
