Conferment of His Majesty Japanese Emperor’s decoration “the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star” upon Ambassador Dennis Awori

1 On 25th June, H. E. HORIE Ryoichi, Ambassador of Japan to Kenya, celebrated the conferment of His Majesty Japanese Emperor’s decoration “the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star” upon Ambassador Dennis Awori at the Official Residence. Those present at this ceremony included Dr. Mutahi Kagwe, Cabinet Secretary for Health among others.
2 The decoration was conferred by His Majesty the Emperor of Japan on 29th of April, the 3rd year of Reiwa (2021) and witnessed by the Prime Minister of Japan, Mr. SUGA Yoshihide, to acknowledge Amb. Awori’s contribution to the development of the bilateral relationship between Japan and Kenya during his five year tenure as the Kenyan Ambassador to Japan and as a shining business leader in bridging the two countries together.
3 During the ceremony, Ambassador HORIE conveyed his warm congratulations to Ambassador Awori, naming a few of the latter’s numerous achievements as Kenyan ambassador to Japan as well as chairman of Toyota Kenya and CFAO Kenya. “While he was serving as Ambassador to Japan, he promoted the business relations between Kenya and Japan by using his rich entrepreneurial experience of immersing himself in the Japanese car industry and working together with Japanese businessmen.” “The Japanese people in Kenya, including myself, can feel very proud of our Japanese motor vehicle industry as majority of the vehicles on Kenyan roads are Toyotas, thanks to your promotion.” Ambassador HORIE said.
4 Ambassador Awori expressed his appreciation to Japanese people, including His Majesty the Emperor of Japan and the Government of Japan as well as Ambassador Horie, and reassured his continuous engagement in strengthening the bilateral relations between Japan and Kenya.
