Handing over Ceremony for the Project for Sustainable Water Supply for 5 Schools in Tharaka Nithi County

On 16th March, Deputy Chief of Mission Mr. KITAGAWA Yasuhisa attended the official handing over ceremony for “The Project for Sustainable Water Supply for five (5) Schools in Tharaka Nithi County”, which was held at Nkomaru Primary School, Tharaka South Sub-County, Tharaka Nithi County.
 
The Project had received a grant amount of USD 91,396 (approx. Ksh 10 Million) from the Government of Japan for the construction of five (5) water tanks and five (5) water pans in five (5) different primary schools, i.e Nkomaru, Kaarani, Kereria, Rwakinanga and Iruruma Primary schools. The herein objective of the project is to build resilience against droughts.
 
The assistance was implemented by International Aid Services – Kenya and is expected to help over 1,100 vulnerable pupils and communities in Tharaka South Sub-County.
 
This project is among many projects in line with the Government of Japan’s Assistance Policy for the Republic of Kenya highlighting the urgent need to adapt to climate change by providing sustainable water supply.
