Handing Over Ceremony for the Project for the Construction of Two Dormitories at Kakapel Special School for Hearing Impairment

On 3rd June, H.E. Ambassador OKANIWA Ken attended the handing over ceremony of the Project for the Construction of 2 Dormitories at Kakapel Special School for Hearing Impairment in Teso North Sub-County, Busia County. Prior to his visit to the school, Ambassador OKANIWA paid a courtesy call on H.E. Hon. Sospeter Ojaamong, the Governor of Busia County at the Governor’s Office.
Also in attendance at the handing over ceremony was Mr. Riungu Abraham, the Deputy County Commissioner.
Kakapel Special School for Hearing Impairment received from the Government of Japan about Ksh 10.6 million/USD 91,000 through the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) for the construction of 2 dormitories for boys and girls respectively, the installation of 4 latrines, 3 water tanks and furniture.
The project aims at improving the learning environment of students with hearing impairment so they can enhance their academic performance and thus enable them to proceed to the next level of education, eventually achieving self-reliance.
