2024/3/16
On 16th March, H.E. Ambassador OKANIWA Ken attended the 16th Japanese Language Speech Contest held at Kenyatta University in Nairobi. The competition was co-organised by the Japanese Language Teachers' Association of Kenya (JALTAK) and the Embassy of Japan with the support of the Japan Foundation, and sponsored by Japanese companies operating in Kenya.

The Japanese Language Speech Contest is an annual event that aims to provide an opportunity for Japanese language learners to showcase their Japanese language skills and to deepen their interest in learning Japanese. This year's contest featured 15 speakers. In the entertainment category, students from Kenyan schools and universities, as well as Kenyan adults and children from regional cities, performed dances and songs, demonstrating the high level of interest in Japan.

The Embassy of Japan, together with JALTAK and the Japan Foundation, remains committed to the promotion and development of the Japanese language in Kenya.
