Ambassador meets with Meru County Officials

On 30th April 2024, Ambassador OKANIWA Ken met with officials of Meru County led by Ms. Monicah Kathono, CECM Lands, Physical Planning, Urban Development, Housing and Public Works. 
 
At the meeting, they discussed “the project for Improved Livelihood Opportunities and Accessibility for Underserved Urban Communities in Meru”.  The project involves training the community on the use of Japanese “Do-nou” Technology to repair impassable roads in the community.

Ms. Kathono briefed the Ambassador that the project has had a positive impact in the local communities and that livelihoods have been transformed due to better roads.
 
The project is funded by Japan through the World Bank and implemented by the Japanese NGO Community Road Empowerment (CORE). Ms. Kathono expressed gratitude to the Government of Japan.
