2024/8/22
On 22nd August 2024, H.E. Ambassador OKANIWA Ken signed a Grant Contract with a Japanese NGO, World Vision Japan for the ‘Improving Water, Sanitation and Hygiene of Homabay County (Phase-2)’ amounting to USD 715,362.
The targeted communities in Gwassi West ward and Gwassi North ward, Homabay County rely on the water from the Lake Victoria, which is contaminated by laundry, dishwashing, outdoor defecation, and dumping of battery acid. This limited access to drinking water, failure to wash hands, and other factors are causing waterborne diarrhea, dysentery, typhoid fever, and other diseases.
Aiming at improvement of water and sanitation conditions, this project will construct water treatment facilities and water supply systems installing “Yamaha Clean Water Supply System” (YCW), improve access to sanitation facilities, and conduct educational activities to promote behavioral change regarding sanitation.
