Ambassador OKANIWA attends One Day Japanese Hospital Event in Kenya

On Thursday, 17th October 2024, H.E. Mr. OKANIWA Ken, Ambassador of Japan attended “One Day Japanese Hospital Event in Kenya 2024” along with the Principal Secretaries of Health and the Chairman of the National Assembly Health Committee. This event was organised by the Office of Healthcare Policy at the Cabinet Secretariat of Japan in cooperation with the Ministry of Health of Kenya to introduce Japanese medical products and services for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) to medical stakeholders in Kenya. It is the second time the event was held in Nairobi and 13 Japanese companies participated.
 
In Ambassador Okaniwa’s remarks, he emphasised the importance of prevention in order to deal with NCDs and pointed to contribution reliable and durable Japanese products can make for accurate diagnosis and treatment.
 
This event was organised as part of Japan’s “Africa Health and Wellbeing Initiative (AfHWIN)”, which aims at promotion of Japanese private sector involvement in the health sector in Africa. Based on AfHWIN, the Cabinet Secretariat and the Ministry of Health and Labour of Japan and the Ministry of Health of Kenya signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in 2021.
