Launch of the Japan–Kenya Health Sector Joint Technical Working Group

2026/2/3
On 3 February, the Ambassador of Japan H.E. Hiroshi Matsuura, together with Mr. Ouma Oluga, Principal Secretary for Medical Services at the Ministry of Health of Kenya, officially launched the Japan–Kenya Health Sector Joint Technical Working Group (TGW) to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in the health sector.

PS Ouma and the Ambassador Matsuura agreed that TWG should not merely serve as a forum for exchanging views, but rather function as a practical framework for consultations that generates concrete and realistic outcomes in a timely manner. Moving forward, discussions will be deepened through consultations in areas such as regulatory systems, quality management, technology transfer, and human resource development.

Japan and Kenya have built a long-standing, trust-based partnership in the health sector over many years. The newly launched TWG builds on this strong foundation and provides an important framework for translating shared ambitions into tangible outcomes that benefit both countries.
