On 27 February 2026, the signing ceremony of the grant contract for the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) was held between H.E. Mr. Hiroshi MATSUURA, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Kenya and Ms. Sila Winfred, Head of Institution of UNOA Comprehensive School.
The School, locate in Makueni County, will receive a grant of approximately Ksh 14 million (USD 117,116) from the Government of Japan. The funds will be used to construct and equip a disability-accessible dormitory.
Japan places great importance on education and is committed to supporting human resource development in Kenya. By building the dormitory, the project will especially benefit girls with disabilities, enabling them to continue their studies in a safe and accessible living environment. This initiative aligns well with the Country Development Cooperation Policy by ensuring access to basic education for all.
