Visit to Riara Road Primary School
2012/3/1

On 1st March 2012, a similar visit was made to Riara Road Primary School (https://www.ke.emb-japan.go.jp/itpr_en/20120229e.html). At this visit, seven school representatives with headmistress and respective teachers received Ms. Ugajin, the director of the Japan Information and Culture Centre (JICC).
After her speech of appreciation to the pupils who sent condolence cards to the victims of the March 11th earthquake, she asked one of the representatives what inspired her to send a condolence card to the victims. One of the responses was that both she and her mother watched the devastating news of the earthquake and subsequent tsunami on the news. The immense suffering and loss of life she witnessed affected her greatly and this was what inspired her to send the card. The principal, Ms. Sarah Mahingo, when asked the same question, responded that her inspiration was because of the relationship that had been cultivated between the school and the embassy as a result of the various cultural events that have been arranged by the JICC.
