Visit to the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT)

Meeting with ex scholarship students from JKUAT

On Tuesday February 1, 2011, Mr. Hitoshi Kikuchi, Director of the Japan Information and Culture Center, visited the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) in the outskirts of Nairobi. The purpose of his visit was to have a meeting with the ex-Monbusho (Japanese Ministry of Education) scholarship students, in order to recruit more of those students from the University into the Kenya Japan MEXT alumni.

Mr. Kikuchi explained in detail about the Japan related alumni organizations in Kenya, the proposed activities of Kenya Japan MEXT alumni, including the participation for the final orientation for seven Kenyan students under the above scholarship who will leave to Japan early this April, and the upcoming visit to a charity organization by the members of Kenya Japan Alumni Association (KEJAA) on April 9.

In response for his call for further recruitment, former members of the above scholarship, now many of them being professors of the University, promised to approach as many former students of the scholarship as possible in order to make a more comprehensive list of members, seemingly about 50 on the campus.
