Third Meeting of the Japan–Kenya Joint Technical Working Group on Health

On April 15, 2026, Deputy Head of Mission Mr. HORI attended the third meeting of the Technical Working Group (TWG) aimed at promoting cooperation in local manufacturing within the health sector between Japan and Kenya. The meeting was held at the Kenyan Ministry of Health in the presence of Dr. Ouma Oluga, Principal Secretary for Medical Services.
Building upon the discussions from the first and second meetings held in February and March of this year, this third session focused on progress regarding specific solutions to the key challenges faced by Japanese companies.
A central theme of the meeting was the simplification of regulatory processes for pharmaceuticals and medical devices. The Japanese side highlighted the importance of ensuring the feasibility of this process, and both sides agreed to continue discussions to identify and resolve practical challenges in its implementation.
Japan and Kenya reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral health cooperation in a concrete and effective manner through this Technical Working Group, while continuing to support the activities of Japanese companies in the region.
